Dr. Gary Ka-wai WONG is currently a Lecturer of the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology in the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd). Prior to joining HKIEd, he was an Assistant Lecturer and Deputy Subject Coordinator (IT/Mathematics Subject) in the Community College at Lingnan University (CCLU). He has years of teaching experience in secondary and tertiary education. Dr. Wong received the B.S. degree in Computer Science and Mathematics (Double Major), Magna Cum Laude, from Brigham Young University Hawaii (BYU-Hawaii) in 2006. He then earned the M.Phil. degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2009. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from City University of Hong Kong in August 2012. His research interests include wireless communication and networks, social networking, mobile learning in mathematics and ICT educations, game theory, convex and non-convex optimization, computer science and engineering education, and higher education.
In 2009-2011, he received two performance awards from CCLU, and nominated by BYU-Hawaii to receive the Young Alumni Award in 2012. He was selected to be included in Marquis Who's Who in the World in 2010. Dr. Wong is currently a member of Phi Kappa Phi, ACM, IEEE, and HKCS. He is also a member of IEEE Education Society, Honorary Secretary of IEEE Hong Kong Section (Education Chapter), ACM SIG for Computer Science Education, Global Chinese Society for Computers in Education, Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education, and a senior member of International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology. He is recently appointed as the Editor-in-Chief (2012 - Current) of the Journals of Advances in Computer Networks, IACSIT.
